Oh my goodness!  The math homework was way harder than what we worked on in class today.  I told the kids who asked about it to just NOT do it!!  Good grief!  We'll pick up again tomorrow.  Mental math...gotta love it!  We had a war in English over dependent and independent clauses.  We made a new science contraption today.  It's like a catapult.  We tried seeing how high we could launch an aluminum foil ball, but we were too loud and had to go back to our seats :( We'll do better tomorrow.  In social studies, we are studying the three regions of Tennessee.  After listening to Island of the Blue Dolphins, Mrs. Wilson passed around the comprehension beach ball.  Some of the favorite parts of the story were:  When Karana built the wall out of bones and when she killed the wild dogs.

We are reading tall tales in class this week.  Also took a boring test in the computer lab, two in fact.  At least those are over!  In gym, we did sit-ups and ran five laps around the gym. We changed the length of the string on our pendulum in science.  We found that lengths longer than 38 cm had fewer swings than lengths shorter than 38 cm.  Mrs. Wilson thinks we finally have place value down!

We built 2 new pendulums today to test varying string length tomorrow. In math, we looked for patterns in a decimal chart. We are reading a tall tale this week and will even be writing a tall tale later in the week.
